Before Sunset infuriates me on so many levels I don’t know where to start. Do you get involved with someone because of one night of extreme happiness that you hope sustains a life or go back to a relationship that is slightly loveless but includes a baby that you adore? Never saw the first part because Ethan Hawke irks ever since he decided he’s an actor AND a writer. God man, you are not Henry Miller so stop trying. I think it stems from the fact he left Uma, which makes sense to me. I’m a sucker for movies about relationships, how they come together, how they fall apart, how it involves hurtful words, and how one can analyze the shit out of it. Which is probably why I love Closer far, far more. Mike Nichols is fantastic. Loved every sad, depressing moment of it.
