DM: I heart you so.

Seriously thought about buying this shirt today.

Depeche Mode, OMD, and Thomas Dolby played at the Rose Bowl in the summer of 1988 and I scraped up every dollar I could to get it a ticket. Luckily I won $25 at a speech contest thus assuring my chance of watching my two favorite bands: DM and OMD. Oh yes oh yes. Sure I was literally in the very LAST ROW in the Rose Bowl…but it was the best concert a teenager could ever go to and one of my regrets was never being able to buy this shirt.

KROQ broadcasted live from the concert and listening to them now makes me want to buy this shirt even more.

    Awesome! Those were days, huh?
I actually did not attend this concert. I remember being so bummed because it was such a huge deal on KROQ. How awesome you got to be there. But luckily I saw them for the first time a couple years later at Dodger Stadium. I remember passing Poorman on the way to get a hot dog and yelling, “Jiiiiim!”

I was lucky to have a dad in his 30s who liked to rock, otherwise I wouldn’t have gone to any shows at all — um, unless it was with you and your mom was going to drive us 😉 Yeah, Pop would pick me up early those Saturday mornings to take me to Music Plus so we could wait in line for tix. Dang. Ticket lines. Old school.
